Scenario from a practical lesson

for the profession: MECHANICAL TECHNICIAN

Qualification: MEC.09 Organization and supervision of machinery and equipment manufacturing processes.

Class: IV

Number of hours: 8 hours

Place of holding classes: P.P.H.U. Filstal, Maciej Filutowski 17-300 Siemiatycze

Practical activity topic: Observance of tolerances and fits.

Unit Themes:

  1. Tolerances and fits in mechanical engineering

OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF THE CLASS:

Application of tolerances and fits in mechanical engineering

OPERATIONAL OBJECTIVES:

  • The student is familiar with the concept of tolerance fields
  • The student knows the position of the tolerance field relative to the nominal dimension
  • The student, on the basis of a numerical or symbolic designation, can determine and read from standards both the position of the tolerance field relative to the nominal dimension and its width
  • The student knows the concept of fits in mechanical engineering
  • The learner knows what a fixed shaft fit and a fixed hole fit are
  • The student distinguishes between loose, mixed and tight fits
  • Student reads tolerances and fits from documentation
  • The student calculates the upper and lower dimensions of the tolerance field
  • The student calculates the indentation or clearance of a fit
  • The learner selects the correct manufacturing methods and cutting parameters in order to obtain the expected tolerance field of the manufactured part

ACTIVITY OBJECTIVES:

  • cognitive: Getting acquainted with the concept of tolerances and fits
  • Educational: Ability to read tolerances and fits from standards
  • educational: Knowledge of the consequences of making details with an incorrect tolerance field and the consequences when assembling such details

IMPLEMENTATION METHODS:

  • Explanation
  • Exercises
  • Show

TEACHING METHODS:

  • Practical

TEACHING RESOURCES:

  • Polish Standards
  • Mechanic’s, turner’s, miller’s guides

FORM OF TEACHING:

  • Individual and group exercises
